BUILDING A BRIGHTER COMMUNITY

Educational Development Programs

Cirebon Power recognizes education as one of the building blocks of a nation. Our education initiatives focus on these programs:

For most unfortunate children of Cirebon, education stops until the 6th grade. Most do not have the opportunity to continue to higher education, or do not have enough motivation to continue school. Cirebon Power believes that motivation is crucial to keep these children in school. For the past 4 years, we reward top 10 students from every grade in 20 elementary schools around the project site. Every semester, 1,200 students receive school supplies from Cirebon Power. It’s a small gesture that we hope will motivate themto study harder, and most importantly something that gives them a reason to smile..

So far, we have rewarded over 12,000 students. The program aims to support more schools in the area. For the next phase, we plan to also reward Junior High School students in Cirebon Regency and Cirebon City.

We live in a world that has changed beyond recognition. A world driven by innovation, creativity and ideas. Imagine what it’s going to be like in the next 20 or 50 years. Education should be able to prepare the future generation for the new world. Learning, shouldn’t only be in classrooms. We want to make learning as fun as possible for the children

With our Storytelling Program, schoolchildren around our project site can participate and learn about the world of ideas and innovation from 20 trained storytellers.. Going around 20 schools in the area, twice a month, we partner with local University IAIN Syekh Nurjati and Yayasan Cinta Anak Bangsa (YCAB) to provide the children with fun, interactive learning experience.

Our Storytelling program featured a book written by Cirebon Power’s President Director, Heru Dewanto, “Inovasi”. This illustrated book is a collection of short stories about innovation, creative inventions and discoveries of our time. From firecrackers to ceiling fan; washing machine to tissue paper; instant noodles to coffee.

As the pioneer of advanced clean coal technology, Cirebon Power firmly believes in the power of innovation and ideas. The “Inovasi” book aims to introduce innovation and creativity from an early age. Something that we hope can help the future generation of Cirebon to excel in the global competition. This is our commitment to power the life and mind of Indonesia.

Since 2013, Cirebon Power recruited locals to teach computer classes for 5th grade to 6th grade students in Kanci, Kanci Kulon and Waruduwur Villages. 20 students were given the chance to learn computer for a month. The program is conducted monthly, rotating between schools in the area. To make things easier, we also provided transportation to and from the plant. So far, 200 students have participated in these special classes.

The Cirebon Power Learning Bus took its first drive in October 2016 and has been going around 10 schools in the area on a daily basis. The bus, initiated by Cirebon Power in Partnership with Yayasan Cinta Anak Bangsa (YCAB) enables schoolchildren to learn more about computers and brush up their computer skills. By now, 200 students have learned typing, drawing and using basic programs on the computers on the bus.
