Cirebon Power Empowered Residents with Electric Vocational Program

RRI.co.id (20/4/2018) | Cirebon Power implemented community empowerment through the Vocational Education and training (Diklat) skills program – Electric Power Installation Technicians and SMAW Lasers (1G-2G, 1F-2F). Each class was attended by 15 people, with 160 hours of training duration and starts on Friday (04/20/2018)

Cirebon Power President Director, Heru Dewanto said, this vocational class was prioritized for participating in former salt farmers or their families, with the hope of providing knowledge and skills for them. So that later can get job opportunities. “This electricity vocational program is part of a big vision to make Cirebon a center for skilled electric power education, so this is a small step from a big leap,” Heru said.

Furthermore, Heru added, in the near future there would be an official launch of the electricity vocational center in conjunction with the Ground Breaking PLTU Unit II, and the digitization of power plant operations. Heru also expressed his appreciation to the team to the Muspika leadership of Astanajapura and Mundu Districts, as well as the Cirebon Power team who have collaborated to realize this training.

It was hoped that with the vocational program it can break the blockages and gaps between the skills needed by the project and the existing skills in the community. “We will be able to open this blockage. This is the goal of the vocational program,” he said.

On the same occasion, the Astanajapura Sub-District Chief, Mahmud Tajudin, admitted that he strongly supported this program. Therefore, skills programs like this were highly anticipated and were expected to provide knowledge and skills to the community. “Basically we think what the PLTU did, Muspika all returned to the community because the aim was to prosper and serve the community,” said Mahmud.

Previously, Muspika Astanajapura and Mundu Districts together with Cirebon Power had collaborated to absorb members of the community who were interested in joining the vocations. Dozens of people from 3 villages namely Kanci, Kanci Kulon and Waruduwur participated in the registration, and 30 people were selected as potential and eligible to participate in vocational classes.

In November 2017 Cirebon Power signed a memorandum of understanding (Memorandum of Understanding) with Korea Midland Power, a well-known electricity development company from South Korea, to build the Electricity Vocational Center. This program will produce professional and skilled personnel for the operation of clean coal technology power plants, which are currently still scarce in Indonesia.
